Research Center Access
The Research Center provides access to a non-circulating collection of archives, photographic materials, and artifacts such as negatives, albums, work prints, manuscripts, audiovisual material, contact sheets, correspondence, and memorabilia relevant to the history of 20th-century photography. These holdings include the archives of more than fifty 20th-century photographers.
Researchers must arrange a specific appointment with Research Center staff well in advance of an intended visit. Archivists can answer some research questions about the CCP archives via email or fax; depending on the question, it could take a few weeks to receive a full answer.

Print Study Access
Print study is a unique opportunity for scholars and classes for whom it is imperative to view original photographs to see images of their choice from the Center's photograph collection. The program allows access, by appointment, to more than 90,000 prints by over 2,000 photographers. The Center takes very seriously its care and conservation of one of the world's most important collections of photographic art and its commitment to making this collection accessible.
Please note that a variety of reasons including conservation, exhibition consideration, and loans, determine whether work is available for viewing on a given day.
